Even the
dead ones are
worth money.
This sheet covers the bottom end of the market: cracked bottles, rusted cages, loose pallets, unknown contents. Disposal companies charge you for these. We pay for them, because they are 150 pounds of recoverable material per unit.
Indicative bands
What we pay, by condition
We publish bands rather than fixed prices because resin and scrap steel both move weekly. Your written quote is firm for fourteen days.
| Material | Condition | Band | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Complete tote, washable | Sound bottle, straight cage, contents known | Top | Not scrap at all — see the buyback page |
| Complete tote, unknown contents | Sound, undocumented | Low | Bottle to regrind, steel recovered |
| Complete tote, cracked bottle | Cage sound | Low-mid | Cage is the value; bottle granulated |
| Cage only | Straight, feet intact | Low-mid | Excellent for rebottling and crates |
| Cage only | Bent or through-rusted | Steel scrap | Baled to a regional mill |
| Steel pallet base | Any | Steel scrap | Harvested as spares where sound |
| Loose HDPE (cut bottles) | Clean, label-free | Resin band | Natural pays better than mixed colour |
| Loose HDPE (cut bottles) | Dirty or mixed | Lower resin band | Priced on wash burden |
| Baled film & pallet wrap | Dry, baled | Film band | Minimum one bale |
| Poly drums, 55 gal | Any | Per unit | We take these too |
How to get the top of a band
Four easy wins
- Drain everything. Liquid is a transport problem and we price it as one.
- Separate cages from complete units. Different streams, different values.
- Keep the paperwork. Even for scrap — known contents moves a load up a band.
- Stage it for a forklift. Hand-loading is labour and labour is a deduction.
- Totes still containing liquid
- Hazardous residue without a manifest
- Radiological, medical or explosive-contact containers
- Units whose labels were removed to conceal contents
Send the safety data sheet with your enquiry if there is any doubt. We would far rather read it than guess, and a straight “no” from us today is cheaper than a rejected load next week.
Clearing a site?
Say 'site clean-out' in the message field. We quote the whole mixed pile as one number instead of nickel-and-diming the material.
